How to get an Operator card

There are two main options:


1. Assessment Method

a) Contact an Accredited Training Provider (ATP).

b) The ATP will assess the training needs of the individual to ensure they have the correct skill levels to undertake the NPORS assessment. The amount of training/assessment delivered will be worked out upon the ratio guidance outlined by NPORS.

c) Operator to complete a practical assessment and knowledge based test.

d) The Operator Card application will be submitted to NPORS by the Accredited Training Provider



Operator Card Cost


The cost for an Operator Card is £25.00 + VAT (£30.00).


Operator Photograph


All NPORS cards now require your photograph, if your old card didn’t have your photograph you will need to send two photographs, which must adhere to the following criteria:

Must be a passport sized photo (35mm x 45mm);

Face and shoulders only in the frame;

No hats must be worn, except religious dress;

No dark glasses to be worn;

The background must be white;

Your name must be printed on the reverse of the photograph

Providing there are no queries the Operator Card is usually returned to the training provider within seven days. (Allow ten days for postage).
